Mrs. Karrie Nelson

Mrs. Nelson is in her second year at Knox Academy, where she is teaching the upper school students math, science, life skills, and a girls’ Bible class. She and her husband have been married 24 years and are the parents of four boys from 19 to 9 years old, their youngest two of whom are attending Knox this year.

She holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a Masters of Arts in Teaching, both from George Fox University. After college she taught middle school science and math, as well as high school electives, at a tiny public school SW of Portland. When her children came into the picture, she devoted her time to parenting and homeschooling. She is appreciative of a great foundation in classical education with a local classical homeschool co-op. Besides her work with the co-op, she has been a birth coach, loves sewing, crocheting and gardening.

Mrs. Nelson loves to help her students comprehend complex concepts, to simplify and unfold the wonders of science and God’s Creation in a way that makes sense in their lives. She says, “I just love helping kids get it!”

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
